The Challenge

"I don't understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I don't do it.  Instead I do the very thing I hate.  I know perfectly well that what I am doing is wrong, and my bad conscience shows that I agree that the law is good.  But I can't help myself, because it is sin inside me that makes me do these evil things."

Have you ever been here?  I know I have, and still find myself there many times.  I confuse myself.  Can anybody relate?  Paul could relate.  Thats Romans 7:15-18 in italics above.  He understood that we are sinful by nature and it takes great effort to do what is right.

I am learning more and more, as I live and try to grow in Christ, that doing the right thing is not always easy.  I fail many times.  We must all just remember, myself first and foremost, that God is always there. We just need ask for His help and His forgiveness and He will be "faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong" ( 1 John 1:9).

"Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more kindness and forgiveness?  Of course not!  Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?" (Romans 6:1)

A daily struggle between good and evil.  Let's start over today and ask for God's forgiveness for past wrongs, and His prescence and power for todays challenges.

(All scripture from the New Living Translation)
