The Girdle of truth? “Girded your loins with truth” (Ephesians 6:14). Truth is hard to come by these days. Many people would rather take the easy way out and just say whatever is convenient or popular. That’s just not the way God would have us, as Christians act. Paul tells us that if we are going to be able “to stand firm” then we are going to have to find that truth. Where might we look you might ask. I think we look no farther that God’s word and the words of Jesus in John. “But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” (3:21) “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (8:31-32) Guys don’t worry this is also translated as “belt” in some translations. The belt or girdle of truth is what will hold the sword of the Spirit, but we are getting ahead of ourselves now. So we must have truth to fight this battle. God chose through Paul to put this first. Maybe we need to have truth before we can go any further in our Christian battle. Will we gird ourselves with truth and God's Word or dare to go into the world without part of the armor God is offering us all? Let’s all pray for truth and seek to walk in truth and God’s light today.
God Bless!
