Ever felt like your past defined you, like people don’t see the real you? I have been there. I think a lot of us probably, at one time or another, have felt this to some degree. Today I have good news for you! Jesus isn’t like that. He doesn’t care where you have been or what you have done in the past. Jesus is all about making things right NOW and then moving forward as a new you.
This reminds me of a Tenth Avenue North song, “You Are More”. Listen to some of their lyrics.

What's been done for you?

You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.

See Jesus sees us the same way. We have been remade in Christ, or we can be if we will. You see Jesus touched the lepers, ate with the sinners, looked past the old you and forward to the new person you could become. He was all about forgiving and moving forward.
God doesn’t want us to be paralyzed by our past, but empowered because of it.
God takes us and forgives us right where we are, but he loves us to much to leave us there! Listen to Jesus in Luke 7:47-48, “Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
You see those of us who have been forgiven much also love much. Jesus will release you from the old. I know. He released me into such a beautiful place, but I had to take the first step. Get up and go to Jesus. He is waiting to forgive and remake you too!
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16)
Don’t lose heart, look to Jesus!
